After many years in this fabulous town, the low official was tasked to bring perishable lychees from Lingnan for the Imperial Consort Yang’s birthday. This journey was impossible and guaranteed death, because if Li Shande wasn’t able to bring them back without rotting, he would immediately be killed. Shande travels throughout the country and builds relationships with many strangers who helped him. After this mission is successfully achieved, Li Shande realizes what an awful and gruesome kingdom he lives in. Which soon burns up in flames with smoke so thick it’s unable to be seen. He addresses this problem to the Consort’s assistant and is seriously beaten and punished. He was exiled to a different town, which was the specific city that he got his lychee from. After many years of living, he soon receives the news that his childhood town was destroyed by rivals. This movie has lots of strengths and almost no weaknesses. The sets presented in the film were detailed and realistic. The film recreates Tang-era China with detailed costumes, sets, and scenery. It also gives insight into ancient courier systems, court politics, and cultural values. helped me immerse myself in the action. This emotional, action-packed movie must be watched by anyone who is a history and action fan.
