Kpop Demon Hunter Review

Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ movie, Kpop Demon Hunter, is a great, family-friendly movie to watch. It contains many incredible songs and an intriguing plot. Don’t be deceived by the title into thinking it is childish or only for K-pop lovers. The whole movie is in English and explores feelings and friendship through catchy songs. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie and would rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
While watching Kpop Demon Hunter, you will not only experience incredible songs but also an engaging plot. The story is set in a world with normal humans and demons who live in the underworld. Each generation, three girls take on the role of singing and performing. They using their voices to constantly seal the Honmoon barrier from demons. The main character, Rumi, from the three girls, is the child of a demon and a human, though her job is to kill demons. She often feels displaced, hated, and lonely all the time, having to hide the patterns on her skin, which only demons have. These feelings may tug at the audience’s heartstrings, creating a sense of sympathy for her. The movie progresses as Rumi finds herself and establishes who she truly is, developing her character along the way. As the audience watches, they feel various emotions, such as pride in Rumi, which connects them with the characters.
Aside from the storyline, this movie also features breathtaking songs. The voice actors of these three girls have exceptional vocals and harmonies. Many of the pieces not only have a catchy tune that makes you want to sing along, but also extremely high notes and octaves. It is seen how much energy and effort the cast has exerted into the creation of this film, especially during these songs. In addition to the impressive music, the lyrics tell a story of their own. It describes all of their struggles and hardships, but also who they are and what defines them. Through their music, the girls ensure their voices are heard as they assert themselves to the world. You can enjoy just listening to the music or even relate to the lyrics if you have personally gone through similar situations.
As the audience finishes up the movie, they now have a soundtrack full of songs and memories from the film, along with an exciting story in their minds.
