The Black Mamba, also known as Dendroaspis Polylepis, is one species of highly venomous snakes belonging to a family called Elapidae. The black mamba is native to parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

The black mamba is the second-longest venomous snake—next to the king cobra. Mature black mambas usually exceed two meters, and most grow up to three meters long. However, some black mambas of 4.3 to 4.5m have been reported.

The black mamba is both terrestrial (ground-living) and arboreal (tree-living). This snake lives in savannahs and woodlands, on rocky slopes, and in some regions, it lives in dense forests. Black mambas usually prey on birds and small mammals.
