With both movies Barbie and Oppenheimer coming out on the same day, it has been the happiest week for Hollywood in a long time. Barbie and Oppenheimer are very different films, with different styles and tones. Since they are such different movies, the marketing strategy was to release them on the same day. The public has been going crazy with making merchandise and different memes on social media about the movies. Many of the public are excited to watch two of the year’s most anticipated titles back-to-back.

Barbie will debut and has scored a massive $155 million during its opening weekend, making it the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman, her name was Greta Gerwig. With Oppenheimer also in its first week, set to make more than $50 million, it’s a roaring achievement for an intense, three-hour drama.

These two big movies strike a double win for Hollywood. However, as the two movies opened during a dual strike, it almost brought industry to a near-standstill. Some television producers’ moods will change from joy to unease. Those cheering the success of “Barbenheimer” fear this weekend’s box office sugar high might be shortened. Now some movies are being pushed back because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. It has been one of the best of the times, and the worst of the times for Hollywood’s movies.
