A mysterious and strange pink glow illuminated the sky above the Australian town of Mildura on the evening of July 27, 2022. It had left the residents wondering if the pink glow was because of an alien invasion, misplaced northern lights, or some solar flare.
A resident, Tammy Szumowski, and her family thought the world was ending. Tammy said, “I was just like, ‘What the hell is that?’ It is very bizarre, this huge pink light in the sky. I’m trying not to freak out because I’ve got my girls in the car.”
Other residents looked for an explanation for the weird occurrence. “I was driving home and it was dark, and I noticed a very unusual, quite large pink glow,” a lawmaker representing the area in Australia’s Parliament, Anne Webster, said. “I thought that was very strange. My first thought was there has to be a logical reason for this.”
The mysterious pink glow came from a medical cannabis facility on the city’s outskirts that inadvertently revealed its once secret location while testing out LED lights. The lights reflected off the cloudy night sky to create a weird, supernatural scene that scared and delighted the town of Mildura, which had 56,000 residents.
While the facility’s security guard was investigating the source of the hot pink light, he realized that it was attracting more attention around Mildura, which is around 340 miles northwest of Melbourne.
“He went out on the evening and noticed a glow, and he noticed a few vehicles pulling up to see where it was coming from,” chief executive of Cann Group, the cannabis research and production company that was behind the facility, Peter Crock, said to the Australian Broadcasting Corp.
