Asteroid caught flying by Earth
On September 30, 2025, an asteroid approximately 3 meters in diameter was spotted directly above Antarctica. It was 428 km above Earth, NASA confirmed. The asteroid was in the Apollo group because of the behavior when it moved and how it passed the Earth. It was named 2025 TF for the year it was found. Similarly, TF means the “6th asteroid discovered in the first half of October 2025.”
How the asteroid turned toward Earth
The asteroid came near Earth‘s highly elliptical orbit. That means that the orbit the asteroid came from somewhere that exploded, and parts were flying, but the one specific asteroid came towards Earth and possibly other planets.
The orbital period is around 2.06 years and goes as fast as 20.9 km/s (46,700 mph), which is slower
than the speed of light but faster than the speed of sound. The asteroid zoomed by Earth for
about 20.9 seconds, but NASA was lucky enough to take a picture of the passing asteroid. It was moving faster than anything humans have built, like rockets, spaceships, or bullets. The asteroid was flying near a satellite that almost hit the 2025 TF, which was called ISS.
What people think about the asteroid
Many people felt really lucky because it would’ve taken out a lot of satellites and we would not have
internet. But people said that their nightmare about the asteroid is that it will create a fireball when it enters the atmosphere, causing the biggest fires in history. which injured over 1,000 people. NASA had an announcement about space safety on satellites and the public.
