10 Year Old Ballet Dancer Joins Royal Ballet School
On Monday, July 21, 2025, Jessica, a 10-year-old ballet dancer, received some thrilling news. She had been invited to one of the best ballet schools in the entire world: The Royal Ballet School. According to BBC News, the school only accepts about 10 to 15 % of the dancers who audition there. Therefore, it was amazing for the 10-year-old to join the prestigious school at such a young age.
Ever since Dame Ninette de Valois founded the school in 1926, the school has produced many magnificent choreographers and dancers. One of those dancers is Darcey Bussell, Jessica’s role model. There are also former students like Margot Fonteyn, Anya Linden, and Jonathan Cope. Many of the dancers who train there go on to be very successful and join the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and other dancing groups across the world. They offer classes for 8-year-olds and above and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the wonders of dancing. Although they want everyone to experience dancing, they only accept the best dancers who come to the audition to be trained by the best teachers. So when Jessica made it into the school, she was delighted.
According to an interview with BBC Norfolk, “she jumped up and down and cried ” after she heard the news. Jessica says that it’s her dream to be a ballerina and a Strictly Judge. Dancing comes as a natural to Jessica now. She says that to let her take dancing sessions when she was just four years old. She said that when she dances, she feels comfortable and relaxed: “ I just feel special. I just feel in my comfort zone and I just feel relaxed.” She has a lot of potential and can “go as far as she likes”, her dance teacher said.
Jessica is an impressive example of how determined you must be to accomplish your dream. When she attends the Royal Ballet School classes, she will get better at ballet and be able to chase her dreams.
