It was a random, boring Saturday. With my friends gone and my screen time depleted, I sat in boredom wondering what to do. Then, like a miracle, my mom asks: “Would you like to see a movie?”
So we went to the theater. As we walked in, we saw many movies. But the one that caught my eye was the new How to Train Your Dragon. This movie is very new and has received very high reviews. In my opinion, it has lived up to its name because of its different aesthetic compared to the original movie, the high-quality effects, and the fact that it keeps the charm of the original movie.
Firstly, this movie has a very different aesthetic compared to the original movie. The fights in this movie are way less vibrant, but they make up for that in detail, as their scales look like those of a lizard’s. It is also way darker overall, as it is not animated, so they use realistic models for the villages in the movie.
Secondly, this movie has very high quality and realistic effects. All the settings look like something from the real world, and the dragons look like they existed at some point. The CGI allows for some very neat fights at the end, which are only possible with the effects that make the fire look very real.
Lastly, this remake captures the charm of the original movie. The original movie was very vibrant while also making the dragons look sort of menacing. Although this movie omits the vibrant part, it shows how the dragons aren’t as scary as they look.
Overall, if you liked the original movie, you should see this one too, as it is very hard to tell which one is better. I would give this movie an 8.5 out of 10, and it is a mustsee for fans of the original movie.
