Lilo and Stitch Live Action Movie Enters Theaters
Premiered on May 23, 2025, Lilo and Stitch, the live-action movie, is an adorable, heartfelt story that celebrates the importance of being grateful to family.
This story is about a lonely girl, Lilo, whose parents died, and her sister is taking care of her. Both are still filled with grief since their parents died. Her sister is on the edge of being Lilo’s guardian and is afraid that her sister will find out. Lilo wishes for a “shooting star” who is a space alien who destroys everything he sees, Stitch. Stitch is a talking blue creature with antennae and six legs. Lilo finds Stitch in a dog shelter and adopts him immediately. Both become great friends and are always there when the other needs them. Soon, the other space creatures come back to take Stitch back to space, but he wants to stay with Lilo and her family. In the end, the space creatures allow Stitch to stay with Lilo and both of them create beautiful memories with one another.
The original Lilo and Stitch, 2002, was written and co-directed by Chris Sanders, a film writer and animator. Although many people believe that Disney invented Lilo and Stitch, it was Sanders who started drawing pictures of Stitch even before the movie became an idea. He originally intended for it to be a children’s book, but when Disney said they wanted something different and original, he suggested his idea and they accepted it. Some other movies he worked on were The Wild Robot, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Now, the new live-action movie features real-life Hawaiian culture like Luaus and other cultural celebrations and dances that really keep you on the edge of your seat. You will not be able to tear your eyes from the screen.
This movie inspired me to care more about my loved ones as well as to believe that I could achieve almost anything if I did not give up on it. The animations and voice actors had such expression and excitement, it made me want to be part of this film myself! At the start of the film, Stitch is depicted as a blue monster that tears up everything around him. However, after he adapts to Lilo’s family he becomes the obedient creature he was always meant to be. Not only did Stitch inspire me, but Lilo did too. After Stitch falls into the ocean and sinks to the bottom, Lilo’s sister, Nani, saves him, but at first, he is still and does not move. They try everything and Stitch is still in the same position. Even then, Lilo never stopped hoping that Stitch would come back for her because she wished for him.
The live-action movie of Lilo and Stitch incorporates many themes of family and love as well as perseverance and never giving up on what one believes. Although a 2002 remake of this movie existed, this one delves deeper into the viewer’s heart, allowing them to truly appreciate the fascinating world of Lilo and Stitch.
