The best musician
Now, the question of who is the best musician has been out there for who knows when. Currently, we’ve isolated the best three musicians based on fame: Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Dolly Parton, but the question still remains. Now personally, I think that Dolly Parton is the best, and here’s why.
Understandably, some people might choose Beyoncé or Taylor, but the reason why I chose Dolly is that she has sold over 100 million records and has the most country albums released in the female category. From Tennessee, she released her debut album, Hello, I’m Dolly, in 1967 and had a lot of hits in the 1970s, including her biggest hit: Jolene. By the 1980s, she was a huge star, and even starred in movies. She is also one of the biggest names in country music history. Dolly has sold over 100 million records and even has her own theme park: Dollywood, as well as a charity group called Imagination Library which aims to encourage people to read.
She was also the first singer to be nominated for the Egot: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, also known as “The Grand Slam of Showbuisness”. Dolly also appeared in Hannah Montana. She also recently featured in a version of Sabrina Carpenter’s Please, Please, Please.
She is the latest to be added to the Guinness World Records Icon List. “Dolly is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated writers and performers in the history of country music… there are so many projects close to her heart : poverty relief, education, medical research and of course the imagination library free books campaign.” Craig Glenday from Guinness World Records said. “It’s these important, life changing initiatives that propels Dolly into a different league. She is truly a living legend, and it’s an honor to bestow GWR Icon status upon her.”
