My House
My house is important to me because of two things: the Nick tree, and the sun room.
The Nick tree is a very important tree in my life. 100 days after I was born, my parents planted a redbud tree in the front yard. We call it the Nick tree because it is the same age as I am and it has been growing with me. When it was just planted, I remember it being tiny. I used to say that I grew faster than the tree. Now it is as tall as the second floor. In the spring, the tree looks beautiful. There are pink buds and flowers instead of leaves all over it, so I think spring’s the season when the tree looks the best. In the summer, the leaves are green, and the tree has a kind of growth spurt. It provides shade for squirrels and rabbits, and it also looks nice when it rains. In the autumn, the leaves are red and yellow, and it’s a pleasure to look at. The leaves change every day, so I usually look out the window to spot the changes. In winter, all its leaves are gone, but it still has little tiny buds. In January and February, you can see the small buds growing back, and it’s probably the second-best view of the year if there’s snow around.
The sun room is also important to me because it’s where I spend a lot of my time. The sun room is an attachment to our house that my parents renovated a few years ago. It used to be a useless old porch whose door was never used, but now it’s probably where I spend most of my time at home. The sun room has more windows than the rest of the house combined. It also has a rowing machine that my dad sometimes uses for exercise. I practice violin in the sun room and I watch my fish in its 20-gallon aquarium. It also has a whiteboard and a comfortable couch. My mom also keeps a lot of plants (and even a tree!) in the sun room, which are pleasing to look at when I’m practicing my violin.
These are the two places that are extremely important to me in my house. The Nick tree is a tree that has been growing with me for years, and the sun room is where I can enjoy my aquarium and the outside view.
