A Japanese man, curious about his favorite videogame franchise, bought over $40,000 of stock in Nintendo. This purchase allowed him to hold one share under his name, and gave him the chance to take part in Nintendo’s monthly shareholder meeting.
Though the guests at the shareholder meeting aren’t assured of being able to ask a question, this man had a lucky chance. He asked the Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, about upcoming plans for his “fan-favorite game franchises,” such as F-Zero.
What is “F-Zero”?
F-Zero is a racing game series that features the character Captain Falcon, who was presented in 1990 and has not been updated since 2004. That year Captain Falcon was introduced to “Super Smash Bros.,” a popular fighting game franchise.
Answers from Nintendo
According to gaming news outlet VGC, Furukawa said that “It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request, but we are very grateful and appreciate the expectations our fans have for our games.”
Nintendo’s senior managing executive officer, Shinya Takahashi, added in that the company is “always” looking at how it can remake and create new games for players, also according to VGC.
Takahashi said “We cannot tell you if there are any plans for future remakes of any specific game, but, during development, we are always thinking about various possibilities that players can enjoy.”
