£3.5 million worth of fake Labubus seized in the UK

In 2025, 90% of the Fake toys confiscated were fake Labubus, or Lafufus. Fake Labubus are made because Labubus are very popular and cost a lot.
This is very dangerous because three-fourths of these Lafufus didn’t pass safety standards. The BBC says, “Issues range from toys breaking almost instantly, unsafe labelling and even bad smells coming from fake toys.”
The reason why there are so many Lafufus is that these fluffy dolls are popular around the world. Many celebrities have them, and they are adored everywhere for their uniqueness. Many people pay a lot for what they think is a Labubu, but is really a Lafufu.
“With counterfeit toys, what you see is rarely what you get. Behind the packaging can be hidden choking hazards, toxic chemicals and faulty parts that put children in real danger. These products have bypassed every safety check the law requires, which is why we’re working with our partners to keep these dangerous fakes out of UK homes,” says Helen Barnham, the deputy director of enforcement at the IPO (Initial Public Offering).
According to the Guardian, fake Labubus were the tip of the iceberg. “Criminals involved in counterfeiting are targeting a wide range of toys across different categories, leaving children exposed to unsafe, poor-quality products,” says the IPO.
