During the pandemic, parents had to look for ways to calm their children’s anxiety. There was one thing that could help: squishmallows.

Nancy Ferrell, who works in career services and community-based learning at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, was gifted a few squishmallows in March 2020 while recovering from her surgery.
“It brings joy,” Ferrell said. “I started to become kind of obsessed.”
After she recovered, she collected 200 squishmallows in total.

“The fan base just grew and grew,” Runken said about the squishmallows. “The toys let people collect deep into characters.”
Every squishmallow had a name, a birthdate, and a background history. There are many different squishmallows, and each is different. Sometimes they’re deaf, blind, or have other disabilities.
Nadia Lindstrom, who has around 30 squishmallows, said she bought a “sort of sad-looking one.” The squishmallow needed a companion, so she bought it right away.
Squishmallows have helped many people during the pandemic and have become many peoples’ favorite. Squishmallows will continue to make people happy in the coming o years.
