Novak Djokovic finally wins Wimbledon after a rough year, beating Nick Kyrgios with a

humungous lead.

Djokovic won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) over Nick Kyrgios bumping himself up to seven Wimbledon men’s singles titles and making him even with great players such as Pete Sampras and William Renshaw, leaving him lurking one behind Roger Federer. He also gained his 21st Grand Slam singles title, leaving him one behind Rafael Nadal and one ahead of Roger Federer.

Djokovic once trailed by 16-1.

It seemed impossible for Djokovic to attend any tennis competitions this year as the United

States did not allow noncitizens and nonresident internationals to enter the country without a

vaccine, given that, Djokovic is firmly not vaccinated. Wimbledon was his last chance to win a

big-time tournament.

Djokovic had to return many booming serves from the 35-year-old, Nick Kyrgios. He took

advantage of many 40-love games and resisted Kyrgios’ complaints to the umpire, including

fans disturbing him while he was serving.

Djokovic had many unlucky encounters this year. He went to the Australian Open,

but then underwent deportation as the tournament began which allowed Nadal to win the

tournament. Djokovic won that tournament nine times before.

Djokovic has encountered many hardships throughout this year, but he was able to persevere

and make a final statement by winning Wimbledon.
