Motivation
As stupid as it may sound, I mostly rely on how fast time moves when it comes to motivating myself. I get that for most people, time moves faster when they are having fun. However, for me, it moves faster when I am bored or doing something I dislike. So, to “make it go faster,” I don’t pay attention to the time and instead try my best to get myself absorbed in whatever I’m doing, such as a lecture or an online class. I try to find a reason why I like this activity, and why I should keep on going. This doesn’t just speed up time; it also benefits my learning. Though I’m not the best student, I have held the belief that people should just focus on learning. Whether you like it or not, you are still expected to do them, so why not focus on them so that you can at least learn something? For example, people could refuse to learn math due to it being confusing. But in the end, you will always be given a math test to do, and not taking the time to understand it just seems…futile.
As time passed, I would also develop some sense of duty, such as how I needed to do my homework, pay attention in class, and be educated. However, it still didn’t solve my boredom problems, so I turned to the future, imagining how each of my choices could impact the future. This strangely works better combined with the time technique, and it does help me focus more, mostly in classes. It is most likely due to some pressure, one of my greatest enemies. I would develop pressure on the future and the results of my work, because everyone would want to have a nice future and outcome.
I don’t like learning, but I need to learn. I have tried to work out many ways to motivate myself to work hard, and I have. This, though, may not be the best way to do it, but it works.
