How Science Found Me
A passion that has helped me grow as a person is my interest in science, especially biology. Before seventh grade, I didn’t really care much about science. I liked math more and would drag my feet to science class, convinced it was just something I had to get through. But that all changed because of my seventh-grade science teacher. She was really passionate about teaching and always made sure we understood what we were learning. Her excitement about science made the class way more interesting.
When we started learning about cell structures, functions, and even a little chemistry, I became more curious. The moment I looked through a real microscope for the first time, I was amazed. Seeing cells up close made me want to learn more about how living things work. That experience, along with my teacher’s support, helped me discover a passion I didn’t know I had. I even started researching biology topics on my own outside of class because I was so interested.
This interest in science taught me an important lesson—that trying new things can lead to unexpected discoveries. I never thought I would enjoy science, but now it’s one of my favorite subjects. Instead of dragging my feet, I actually look forward to science class and often come in with questions I thought of the night before. In the future, I see myself taking more advanced science classes and joining projects related to biology. I even dream of working in the medical field and becoming a surgeon one day. Science has opened a new path for me, one I hadn’t considered before. Now it’s something I want to keep learning more about as I move forward in life.
