In the movie “The Wrong Trousers”, a pair of jeans allows regular people to walk on walls or
ceilings. This idea sparked interest in many scientists, as they began to wonder if robotic clothes are actually a good idea.
In labs all around the world, computer programmers, material designers, and fabric studiers are working rapidly to level up robotic clothing. Australian researchers have recently created robotic textile fabric, which enables fabric to move by itself. Last year, they made fiber batteries as well using bacteria gel.
These clothes are designed to act as a computer. They would sense bodily operations, and tell your clothes how to help with any problems. Scientists also plan to make clothes for elderly people that help them stand, athletic socks that help with blood flow, and clothes for pregnant women to improve their child’s health.
There are, however, already a few smart clothes out there. For example, there are yoga pants that help people with their posture. Google also puts sensors in jackets, shoes, and more so that individuals can access their phone easily. All of these smart clothing pieces are connected to iPhones, but the ones that scientists are working on right now are planned to do much more.

announcement stage. It’s very, very exciting.”
