A very long time ago, beasts roamed the shores, causing chaos all around. This is the story of The Sea Beast, a new movie that came out. What also came out was how the designers chose how the creature looked. In the end, they chose a huge red monster with eyes on the side of its head and a big horn in the middle.
The thought process to make this creature wasn’t very simple though. The creators had to go through what her skin, eyes, size, and color were. After careful consideration of each part of Red, the name of the beast, they finally settled on a make.
The skin is obviously red, hence the name. In addition, they had to make it look like she had been through a lot of battles. To do so, they made her skin scratchy and beaten up. The extra obstacle was to make the skin simpler than all the other monsters’ skin so the main character could establish a bond with the creature and ride on its back.
The next thing to determine was where its eyes should go. To do so, they look toward a key scene in the movie, when the main characters were trying to get Red to turn. During that scene, each main character was in front of each of Red’s eyes, but the key part was that the characters couldn’t see each other. Therefore, it only made sense to put both eyes on different sides of Red’s head.
The last choice the producers needed to make was how big they wanted Red to be. They wanted Red to be bigger than all the other Beasts, but small enough so that you could still see the humans standing on her back. Keeping these two restrictions in mind, they came up with a perfect size.
Finally, when assembling the creature. They threw together all the parts they had thought of and Red was born.
