Last Sunday, Thai Liverpool fans showed up in droves at Bangkok’s
Suvarnabhumi Airport to catch a glimpse of the famous football team from Britain.
To get a good view of the Liverpool players, dedicated fans had started to
gather six hours prior to Liverpool’s plane’s arrival. A full two hours before they
were set to arrive, hundreds of people were already gathered outside of the airport.
thousands of loyal fans had gathered around.
Many of the fans were too far to even get a glimpse of the famed individuals,
since some of them stood more than 50 yards away from the pathway to Liverpool’s
bus. Coupled with the fact that the bus was only three steps from the VIP room,
most stayed at the airport for hours for nothing.
After seeing all of the people waiting for them, Liverpool FC simply felt
astonished. “Was it like this yesterday when Manchester United came?” asked
Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool FC.
The encounter with the fans was nothing compared to the press conference
that came afterwards. Three seats had been set up for manager Jurgen Klopp,
skipper Jordan Henderson, and vice-captain James Milner. Barriers were set up by
officials, but were quickly ignored by the press, who quickly turned the event into a
pit of chaos, with the officials trying to enforce some kind of border, the
Liverpudlians trying their best to answer the numerous questions being thrown at
them, and the reporters ruthlessly shoving to get their own questions answered.
The team was very surprised by the chaotic nature of the press conference. “I
have never been to a press conference like this,” said Jurgen Klopp as he was given
a football.
The arrival definitely isn’t the end of Liverpool’s visit to Bangkok. If Sunday’s
arrival was anything to judge, the venue at Rajamangala Stadium will likely be one
of the most chaotic games in Liverpool FC’s history.
