Las Vegas Aces Guard, Jackie Young, is known for being competitive. One of her teammates said, “She’s going to try to beat everyone.”
She’s been successful everywhere she has played. She won a high school Championship, an N.C.A.A. Division title at Notre Dame and an Olympic Gold medal in the 3v3 women’s basketball.
“Everyone wants a ring. I definitely want a ring,” Young said, “We’ve been close each year.” Jackie Young is playing her fourth season with the team, and they have made the playoffs each time, and they reached the finals once. Jackie is a very good defender, so they put her in the starting lineup.
When Jackie went to Princeton community high school, she scored 3268 total points, which was a record for both the boys and the girls. Her highest scoring game is 32, which she put up in a 2018 semifinal game.
Wilson, another player who also had a smooth transition from college, had been drafted the year before. She has been trying to help Jackie and answer all her questions. Another person trying to help her is her coach, Becky Hammond.
“I talked with Becky about this earlier in the season, just talking about my court awareness and seeing things before it happens,” Young said. “I think that would help us along the way, too, me just being more vocal. I’m just working on that every day.”
Wilson, who noticed the growth, told reporters, “Jackie is someone where she understands her assignment 100 percent. She is a pro at what she does, and watching that growth it’s been incredible, honestly, to watch. She’s locked in no matter what, and she makes sure that others around her are doing the same.”
Hammond told reporters, “She’s someone who’s in the gym all the time. I’ve got to kick her out. I literally tell her to go home and take the ball and put it on the rack.”
“I know she’s going to try to beat everyone, including me, you know,” Plum said. “That’s just who she is. She wants to win everything. And if she doesn’t win, someone cheated.”
