The fascinating world of videogames is a large community split into different groups. One group speed runs games- meaning they complete the game as fast as humanly possible. They hold records of how long it takes to beat a game, no matter how hard it is. They skip through the parts that the game wanted you to complete first by discovering glitches and using them to their advantage, such as passing through walls and clicking repeatedly for something you’d need later.
However, a new video game called Neon White may just change all of that.
Neon White is a video game about a dead murderer with amnesia called White, who is pinned
against other assassins to kill demons and get out of hell. The goal of the game is to kill every
demon and reach the finish line first. Cards are brought to help kill demons more easily and
faster. Some allow you to jump higher, others allow you to slam down on the demons. The key is that at each level, you must exploit the specific hand that you are dealt with.
After you beat a level, gifts are brought, and you can give them to other characters to strengthen your relationship with them. They usually appear somewhere along the course. Now, you can do levels multiple times to find all of the gifts. It’s not all about killing all the demons. You need to use your cards to find the gifts, often hidden in very secret locations.
Gifts are usually put in extreme places that will make you need to use a certain card that you got. For example, some gifts are placed in the highest possible place. If the gift is up there, then it should be possible for you to get up there as well. That leaves players thinking about which strategies to use to get that gift. The thing is, if you can figure out the perfect time to jump up some steps and run forward, maybe you can just bypass half the level.
However, that’s still theoretical. On the next level, you can change and optimize, you can find
new routes. Eventually, when you’ve “mastered” it, you’ll feel like a god.
