For the past few years, Sydney McLaughlin has repeatedly smashed world records and defeated her rivals. McLaughlin has now proved possible what was once thought to be impossible, with her astonishing rise to the top.
Having gone against some of the best athletes, including runners like Daliah Muhummad, McLaughlin’s new challenge is to break her next record.
After beating her own world record, one she had set herself only 27 days earlier at the U.S Championships, McLaughlin still sees room for improvement. “I still think that wasn’t even a super clean race,” she said of her record-breaking run.
When she beat her previous record last month, McLaughlin was similarly unreactive, stating that “My coach thinks there’s a lot more to be done.”
McLaughlin will seek more possibilities in the future with the help of her coach, Bobby Kersee. As she leaves open the possibility that she will compete in future 400-meter sprints or 100-meter hurdles in the future, it’s clear that Mclaughlin still wishes to break more records in the future.
