US Gymnastics Team Excels 2024 Olympics

The US men’s gymnastics team ended a 16-year-long period of producing non-medalists by procuring 5 bronzes in the 2024 Paris Olympics. With this spectacular achievement, people all over the US have been cheering. The women’s team also accomplished the amazing feat of earning a load of medals.

Starting with the men’s team, the captain had suffered a knee injury but performed excellently in the final despite some questions about his ability to perform. It led his team being on the podium and allowed the US to regain pride in men’s Gymnastics. Gymnast Asher Hong stated in an interview in response to a question about how they work so well together, “I mean it makes a world of a difference you know. … is all about a team,” showing how the US finally ended the drought of medals by bonding as a team, rather than loose individuals.

On the women’s side, the US team won a glut of medals, so many that Simone Biles has become the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history. Other members, such as Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles, secured two medals, too. However, this isn’t surprising as the US has won gold in women’s gymnastics almost every year after the 1996 Olympics. Surprisingly, the gold medalists finished a far throw from the silver medalists, which is not common, since there usually isn’t much of a difference between the top few.

With all the medals, the US has delivered a top notch performance in the Olympics, topping the number of medals and gold medals in total, tying with China for the number of medals in the 2024 Olympics. With the possible withdrawal of Simone Biles from the 2028 LA Olympics, the US might not stand out as much next time.
