The Russian Defense Ministry said that in their latest attacks, Ukrainian forces had fired at least three drones at Moscow, Russia, demonstrating that few places are off limits after more than 17 months of war.

The Defense Ministry said that one drone was destroyed before it could damage anything, but the two other drones attacked commercial buildings before Russian air defenses finally struck them down.

Ukraine usually does not take the blame for attacks on Russia, but this time it’s different. Ukrainian officials said at the end of July that recent drone attacks on Moscow were orchestrated by Kyiv. Lately, the attacks on Moscow have been more frequent, but no deaths have occurred yet. The attacks have made the people in Moscow think that the war might reach them. They have also resulted in criticism of President Vladimir V. Putin’s management of the war, which has cost tens of thousands of soldiers their lives.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a separate statement that it had intercepted 25 Ukrainian drones targeting Crimea, Russia, overnight. The claim could not be independently verified, however.

Simultaneously, Ukraine’s Air Force said that Russia had launched four attack drones overnight at the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions of southern Ukraine. It said in a post on Telegram that four drones had been intercepted. Those claims also could not be independently verified.

In the north of Ukraine, when a missile sent from Russia hit a building, two people were killed and 20 others were wounded, the City Council explained in a statement.
