In a surprising turn of events, popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat faces a riot charge following a chaotic giveaway event in the heart of New York City. By 1:30 p.m., approximately 300 people had gathered at Union Square, according to NYPD Officer Jeffrey Maddrey during a press briefing on Friday. However, the situation worsened significantly by 3 p.m., when news of the giveaway spread online, causing thousands to gather at Union Square.

The situation quickly took an unexpected turn. As Cenat announced the winners of the giveaway, a wave of enthusiasm surged through the crowd, causing people to push forward hoping to claim their prizes. In this chaotic scene, people are jostling and shoving to get closer to the stage. Law enforcement officers nearby attempted to restore order, but the situation only worsened, leading to clashes between the officers and the crowd.

The police eventually removed Kai Cenat from the park, Officer Jefferey Maddrey revealed. He then later confirmed during a press conference that Cenatt “is going to be charged with multiple counts: At least two counts of incitement to riot, unlawful assembly, and a few other charges.”

The police arrested or detained a total of 65 people, 30 of whom were minors. Among the casualties, two police officers and four civilians had to be transported to medical facilities in ambulances. Additionally, one officer suffered a broken hand. Officer Maddrey predicted that the number of injuries was expected to increase.

“I personally saw other people leaving here with their heads split open, you know, cuts, bruises, lacerations,” he said, noting that he also had been hit on the head.

Kai Cenat issued a statement on his social media platforms apologizing for the unintended consequences of the event and promising to cooperate fully with the police.
