I whimpered as my owner left me alone in the house. I hated being alone. Well, mostly alone. There was a fish in a bowl named Bubbles and a hamster in a cage named Cheeky, but we couldn’t interact and play. But of course, I was a good dog. I finished my food and water and with a ball in my mouth, I sat at the door, waiting for my owner. My owner returned holding something in his hands.
“It’s another pet! But it isn’t a dog, not a fish either, not even a hamster, but it’s… a cat? Come on! Seriously?” I barked at my owner, but of course, he didn’t listen.
“Rufus, there you are! I bet you missed me! I brought you some company, a cat!” my owner exclaimed as he looked at me happily.
The cat crawled out of his arms. The cat had orange fur with stripes. Its green eyes evilly looked into my eyes as he purred quietly.
My owner, not realizing the tension between us two yelled, “I’m going to name you, Simon! Simon the cat! Now I am going to go shopping, bye!”
My owner slammed the door shut, leaving us pets in the house. Simon immediately pounced into the house, scraping the walls, tearing the couch, and knocking down many objects. Simon saw Bubbles and licked his lips. He started to reach into the bowl as I jumped and knocked him down. We both growled and started fighting, slapping, and kicking each other. Suddenly, the door opened.
“I’m back!” my owner exclaimed.
He looked shocked to see the mess Simon made. Simon suddenly started purring and fake crying as my owner approached us. He looked at Simon and then at me. Simon pointed at me and started bawling like crazy.
“Rufus! I can’t believe you made this mess, no more treats for you!” my owner sternly yelled.
I looked at him. Shocked, backstabbed, and betrayed by the one I was protecting. Bubbles and Cheeky look angry and upset. They couldn’t believe that he believed Simon. Bubbles angrily circled fast and knocked on the glass as Cheeky banged on his cage. My owner looked at them and went to feed them. They continued their angry act as my owner looked at them, puzzled. He got a phone call and his face grinned.
“Everyone! I’m going on a date. No one wreck the house again!” he said while eyeing me.
My owner slammed the door shut, leaving us pets in the house. Simon immediately pounced back into the house, scraping the walls, tearing the couch, and knocking down the rest of the objects. Simon started to slap Bubbles’ bowl down and I caught it and put it back. I looked at Simon as we both growled and started fighting again. Suddenly, the door opened.
My owner looked yet again shocked as he shouted, “Rufus! No dinner for you! Go to bed right now.”
I walked into my bed and barked angrily. I thought and thought about what to do and then I thought, why not show the security camera footage in the house to my owner? By now, everyone was asleep. It was dark outside and inside, so I tiptoed to the security room. I set the security footage to when Simon made a mess for me to show my owner in the morning. I went back to my bed and had a nice and restful night. I woke up in the morning, and everyone was still asleep. I ran to my owner’s bed and woke him up.
He yawned, saw me, and sternly asked, “What do you want?”
I barked and motioned for him to follow me. He followed me as I lead him to the security room. I showed him the footage of when Simon made a mess and whimpered. My owner looked shocked. He went down to find and punish Simon as Simon woke up. Simon yawned and purred when he saw my owner.
“You made the mess and blamed it on Rufus! I can’t believe you, you’re going back to the adoption center!” my owner yelled at Simon.
Simon’s eyes grew wide as he panicked. He whimpered, meowed, and made the cutest innocent eyes ever, but my owner wouldn’t budge. My owner left with Simon and he returned empty. He fed the rest of us pets and we enjoyed the rest of our lives, never having to worry about Simon. I wondered what would happen to Simon, but I eventually forgot about him. So, my owner, Bubbles, Cheeky, and I have lived happily ever after.
