Robert Downey Jr. Making an Evil Return to Marvel

Robert Downey Jr. appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con and announced he was playing the evil character Dr. Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. His old role was surprisingly Iron Man, who was an Avenger, and fought with the good guys.

Fans at the Comic-Con were excited to hear details about the new films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The crowd went wild when Robert Downey Jr revealed he was Dr. Doom. Downey Jr said, “New mask. Same task. What’d I tell you? I like playing complicated characters.”
Downey Jr started his career by playing Tony Stark (Iron Man). He played the role until 2019 when his character died in Avengers: Endgame.

Robert Downey Jr also started the Footprint Coalition, an organization dedicated to cleaning up the Earth with robots. He joked after his character died saying, “I’ve got to do something. I’m unemployed.”
The movie will be released on May 1, 2026. His character was an enemy of the Fantastic Four, characters created by Stan Lee who also created the Avengers.

Robert Downey Jr has not stopped his acting career at 59 years old and will continue to act with MCU.
