At the end of the school year, Brody Ridder went home with only 4 signatures in his yearbook, 2 of which were from teachers. Ridder, wanting more signatures, signed his own yearbook writing “I hope you make some more friends.”

Brody’s mom had enough of the bullying and messaged NPR about the whole situation at her son’s school at Denver suburbs. She told them, “[p]arents need to teach their children kindness, open up that dialogue. And if you see your child being mean to somebody else, talk to them about how that could possibly make them feel. Talk to them about intent versus impact.”

The impact of the bullying caused Brody a lot of trouble, and his mom went on Facebook in a parent group for the school and wrote this message, “[m]y poor son. Doesn’t seem like it’s getting any better. 2 teachers and a total of 2 students wrote in his yearbook. Despite Brody asking all kinds of kids to sign it. So, Brody took it upon himself to write to himself. My heart is shattered Teach your kids kindness.”

Since she wrote that message, Paul Rudd took notice and helped Brody. Paul Rudd, a movie star who plays Ant-Man, Faced Timed Brody as a surprise and said, “[i]t’s important to remember that even when life gets tough that things get better. There are so many people that love you and think you are the coolest kid there is — me being one of them!” He even sent him a handwritten letter with an Ant-Man head with the actor’s signature. The next school year began, and students joined him and signed his yearbook from last year.

Ever since that happened with Brody, Cassandra, Brody’s mom, is now spreading anti-bullying messages around the internet. Brody is feeling confident, and he wants to “put himself out there” to make friends in school. What would you do if you saw someone get bullied?
