In a sudden terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway, Zaniar Matapour pulled out his gun and shot 24 people wounding 21 and killing 2 people. Although Police aren’t 100% sure about the motive behind this terrible act, they believe it’s a hate crime towards same-sex couples.

The shooting occurred on a Saturday morning when witnesses saw Zaniar take out a weapon and begin to fire. All the civilians were horrified and all they could do was to run or lie down and pray. Soon after the incident, police and some helping bystanders tackled the gunman. But by the time they got to the scene, 21 people were wounded along with 2 dead. Police interrogated Zaniar and found that he was carrying a fully automatic gun which is illegal in the United States.

A parade was supposed to held for a pride event later that day, but it was later canceled. The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Stoere said that cancelling the parade did not help with the discrimination and hatred to the people. Even after the parade was canceled people gathered on the streets waving rainbow-colored flags, placing flowers, and shedding tears for this inconvenient day.

The prime minster had said we are all people and should live a free safe life. “During the day, the city was full of people who wanted to speak out, about sorrow and anger, but also about support and solidarity and the will to continue on fighting, for the right of every individual to live a free life, a safe life,” said Mr. Stoere.

Not long after, the church minister also known as Olav Tveit said, “Bullets cannot kill love.” Tveit also has been trying to build equal rights for same-sex couples. “We see that we can learn, sometimes in spite of ourselves, that diversity is a present, a richness, and that many homosexuals have a capacity for love that we are incapable of.” Norway came into full alert for terrorists but at the time they said there will be no more dangerous events happening.
