Just last Sunday, on the 30th of July, Russian forces claimed that Moscow was attacked by 3 drones overnight, damaging a building complex and injuring one person. Authorities say that 2 drones crashed into a building complex after being electronically jammed, and a 3rd was shot down on the city outskirts. Russia has blamed it on Ukraine but Zelenski, Ukraine’s current president, has not yet claimed responsibility.

“My friends and I rented an apartment to come here and unwind and at some point we heard an explosion and it was like a wave, everyone jumped and there was a lot of smoke and you couldn’t see anything.” says a Russian woman that witnessed the incident. The 3rd drone that was shot down forced an international airport to temporarily close down. After a similar drone strike earlier in that week, the Ukrainian government warned there would be more to come, but they have not yet commented on the latest attack. Instead, Zelensky said in his daily address “Ukraine is getting stronger, and the war is gradually returning to Russia’s territory, to its symbolic centers and military bases.” This incident has made the war in Ukraine more visible and known to the Russian people.
