MOANA 2

Have you ever watched Moana? Do you want to see the live-action? Well, you’re in luck! Soon, in movie theaters, Moana live-action will be released on July 10 of the year 2026. It features a 17-year-old girl named Catherine Laga’aia playing Moana. Laga’aia has a Polynesian Heritage, like Moana from the movie.

Some people might have not seen the movie, so here is a quick summary. A Polynesian girl named Moana goes on a mission to save her island. Moana then met a shape-shifting demi-god called Maui. Maui decided (or was forced) to help and taught wayfinding to Moana. Together, they traveled through dangerous situations and ended up saving the island, restoring peace. If you want more details, go watch the movie!

Catherine Laga’aia is from Australia and is thrilled to be in this production. She says that,”I’m [honored] to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples, and to represent young girls who look like me.”

Performing alongside Laga’aia is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “The Rock” was the original performer of Maui. His fans will be happy to know he is performing Maui again.

Be sure to watch the live action film when it comes out. If you are interested in more Moana related material, Moana’s sequel, Moana 2, is coming to theaters on November 27, 2024. Be sure to be on the lookout!
