Minions: The Rise of Gru reaches unimaginable heights in the field of comedy animation because of Gru’s accent and his endearing, villainous Minions. It even sparked a trend on TikTok where teens dress up in suits to see the movie. I would give “The Rise of Gru” five out of five stars because of the storyline, the amazing animation, and of course the Minions themselves.

The first reason I would give “The Rise of Gru” a five out of five stars is the storyline. Little Gru has a dream like no other and wants to become the greatest villain of all time. A supervillain fan, he creates a scheme to become bad enough to join them. Fortunately, he has some mayhem-creating support from his devoted Minions. Gru interviews to join a group called the Vicious 6 after they remove their leader, the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. It doesn’t go well, and only gets worse once Gru outsmarts the group and finds himself facing off against the height of evil.

The second reason I would give “The Rise of Gru” a five out of five stars is the animation. As usual, Illumination does not disappoint when it comes to film visuals. After seven years, the Minions themselves have only gotten cuter…at least visually speaking. The animation is crisp, clean, and appealing to kids and families alike. The bright, happy, colorful, and familiar visual vibe that the Despicable Me movies bring to the big screen is spectacular. When it’s nighttime in the movie, the bright colors pop even more in the city light.

The last reason I would give “The Rise of Gru” a five out of five stars is the Minions. They are the real stars of the show. They are the most loyal little creatures and help their boss, Gru, in any way they can. Wherever they travel, the Minions are appealing, relevant, and intriguing. They appeal to a very real, even human, emotion by hugging fire hydrants, simulating ambulance sirens, and repeatedly hitting each other, just for fun.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is a hilarious, thrilling movie that everyone should watch.
