On Sunday, a team called the Toronto Blue Jays announced that their fist base coach will be away because of the death of his eldest daughter, Julia Budzinski.
“The Budzinskis have been part of our Blue Jays family over the last four seasons. This devastating loss is felt by our entire organization and we grieve alongside Bud and his family,” said the Blue Jay’s executive vice president and general manager, Ross Atkins. “I have known Bud for more than 25 years and have always admired his commitment as a dad and husband first. He is loved and well-respected by our entire clubhouse and holds a special place in all our hearts,” Atkins continued.
Bud’s daughter, Julia Budzinski, died at age seventeen. The team later announced that Bud will be staying away with his wife, Monica, and Josh and Lily, their children.
The Blue Jays and another team, the Tampa Bay Rays, lined up on the foul lines before the first pitch. The manager of the opposing team, the Rays, claimed that his team was heartbroken.
Another coach, from the Tigers, said that he will take place for Bud. The Tigers coach had been with Bud’s minor career. He showed empathy and grieved with them too. After that he went to take the place of Bud’s job, being the first base coach at the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Without the coach from the Tigers, there would have been no match.
