Once there was a caterpillar named Sam. Sam wanted a friend so he packed up. Sam said bye to his family and set off in the morning.
Sam went forward. He traveled miles and miles. He made his own food and camped for the night. He went forward searching for a friend. Sam once crawled through high fields of green, yellow flowers and through a waterfall with ferns growing everywhere. With good news and bad, he marched forward determined to find a new friend.
Then he came to the edge of the continent. He made a boat from a leaf and set sail. Sam met many new friends along the way. He made friends with seagulls, a humpback whale, some fish, and a bird. He sailed and sailed through rough waters. When a big wave came and knocked his ship over, the bird saved him and dropped him to a tropical island.
At the island, he made another boat. Then, he made three boxes. He put tools in the first one, food in the second, and an extra inflatable raft in the last one. When he set sail, he found that one of his friends was in the biggest tangle. He helped his friends who were in the pile of trash not get tangled too much. He cut through the trash and freed his friends. Sam and his friends helped the one that was in the biggest tangle ever. Sam called, “hold on!” Across the roaring waves now thrashing and sweeping Sam away. He yelled and thrashed to take a breath. Then a bird named Mary picked up Sam and flew back to Jack, the one in the tangle. Soon they freed Jack and set sail. As the waves were smother, they didn’t know that the quiet was before the crazy. Out of nowhere a hurricane formed and hit his boat! The last thing he heard was his friends calling for him.
When he woke up, he found himself on the humpback whale’s mouth. Sam said, “thanks.” He opened his box with the raft and went on the journey. Finally, they made their way to the other side. Sam said, “I promise to come back one day.” Sam set off in the unknown world. He traveled until he was homesick. Sam came back and called his friends. On the way back, Sam rolled off his raft and landed on the humpback whales’ mouth. He made a cocoon and few days later, he came out as a butterfly. He promised he would make a journey back to his friends and flew back to his sweet home.
