A new ant species, not native to the United States, has been climbing up flights of stairs to the highest apartments in New York City.
These new ants are called “Lasius Emarginatus” and nicknamed the ManhattAnt. These ants came from Europe and possibly arrived by ship. They have come aboard a crate and ended up in New York. They have a reddish-brown thorax and a dark brown head.
The ManhattAnt species have been thriving in N.Y.C. They have been seen climbing all over trees, so it is assumed that they are known for their incredible climbing skills, which is reasonably why the people who have witnessed the ant intruders have lived on very high apartment floors.
Although liquid ant baits and other types of ant killers have done a decent job at eliminating loads of ants, a scientist who examines the dead ant bodies insisted about how extremely powerful ant killers should not be used inside houses.
It may sound ironic, but it is for a good reason. Since the ants don’t immediately drop dead, they carry the poison wherever they go. Some people have been experiencing 24-hour pain and think it’s food poisoning. Instead, it could be poison from the ants crawling all over your plates.
