On June 27, Harini Logan won the 2022 National Scripps spelling bee and a trophy. She received over 50,000 dollars, among the other prizes.
Harini was born on May 9, 2008. She is from San Antonio Texas. Logan is 14 years old and likes to read and write. It wasn’t easy for Logan to win, as there were 229 spellers competing. It was Logan’s 4th time going to the spelling bee. She got 31st in 2021 but she made a comeback.
The spelling bee was held for three days in National Harbor Maryland, and on Tuesday, June 2, 2022, Logan was in the finals with Vikram Raju. Since Logan got 21 out of 26 correct and Raju only got 15 out of 19 correct, Logan won.
During her post-win interview, the judges asked her how she was feeling during and after the competition. Logan responded, “During the spell-off, I took every single emotion I was feeling out of my head and just focused on each word. It was really surreal. I don’t think I had time to feel nervous. When I won, I was exhilarated. I was on cloud nine.”
