Once there was a 12-year-old boy named Bob Davidson, who loved to play practical jokes on people. One day, he dug a hole near his school. He covered it up with sticks and stones and leaves. Giggling, he went home, hoping that someone would fall into his trap soon.
The next day, 11-year-old Emma Jordan was going to school when she suddenly fell inside a hole. “AHHHH!” she screamed as twigs snapped. Her brown hair got really messed up. Unfortunately, it was Bob’s hole, which was very deep, dark, and wet. Emma’s big blue eyes couldn’t find a way out. “Help!” she screamed. But nobody helped her. She was alone, waiting for darkness to devour her.
12-year-old Caitlyn Johnson was lounging in her chair, bored. She looked across the room, and wondered why Emma wasn’t there. The teacher, Mrs. Smith was teaching a class on basic algebra. So she raised her hand and asked. Mrs. Smith said that she didn’t know. Caitlyn sighed, pulled up her hood, rested her legs on the empty chair in front of her, and went to sleep.
After school, Emma was still there stuck. Tired, she went to sleep. Bob came up and saw her there. He laughed and covered the hole again. Emma suddenly woke up and asked groggily, “Who’s doing that?” She saw that it was Bob. Laughing, Bob ran away. Emma imagined ripping that smug look off Bob’s face and ripping his messy blond hair off.
Caitlyn was walking back from school when she saw someone laughing. It was Bob, and when he laughed, it meant that he was up to no good. She then saw Emma inside the hole and pulled her out. “How did you get stuck in here?” she questioned. “Bob dug a hole and I fell in it.” Emma replied. “Well, I gotta go to soccer practice, so see you tomorrow!” Caitlyn said. Emma walked home, and she told her parents what happened. Her parents called the school, as Emma went to her room and thought about things. She would booby-trap Bob! First, she went to the school and dug a hole and put sticks and leaves on top of it. Then she got some string, a bucket, duct tape, and two pencils. She went to the front door and made a basic water bucket ambush trap. Satisfied, she went home excited.
The next day, Emma was skipping to school. Caitlyn ran beside her. “Why are you so happy?” Caitlyn asked. Emma grinned. “You’ll see.” In front of them was Bob, who always came to school 30 minutes early. Emma heard twigs snap and the sound of Bob screaming. Furious, Bob came out. “Is that all you’ve got?” he sneered. He hurried up and opened the door to the school. “ARGHHHH!” he screamed, his dry clothes now soaking wet.
In the classroom, their science teacher, Mrs. Levione asked, “Bob, why are you wet?” Bob grumbled, “Someone drenched me. I think it was Emma.” Emma raised her hands innocently, and Caitlyn winked at her. “Bob, Emma would not do that. That sounds like what you would do, though. Okay, class, we have a lot of work to do,” replied Mrs. Levione. “Now I’ll get your little friend,” Bob said under his breath.
That night, Bob went to Caitlyn’s house and put a little package there on the front steps. “Heehee!!” he giggled as he ran away.
The next morning, Caitlyn woke up, and saw the package. “For me?” she asked curiously. She opened it, and millions of ants exploded on her. She screamed. “Must be Bob,” she grumbled, and went to wash the ants off. After she finished getting ready for school, she was already late. “Caitlyn? Why are you so late?” asked Mrs. Levione as Caitlyn ran into the room. In the corner of her eye, she saw Bob giggling. “Bob booby-trapped me,” Caitlyn replied. Caitlyn’s usually bright green eyes were now anxious and mad. But Mrs. Levione had already started her lesson. So Caitlyn slumped toward her seat and glared at Bob. Bob laughed mockingly at her.
Later, Caitlyn decided to get revenge on him with Emma and the whole class. That was easy because everyone wanted to be friends with her. Little scraps of paper were passed around the whole entire class — even to the teachers. The next day, everybody except Bob was here two hours earlier. They hid themselves in the closet as they waited for Bob. When he came, he saw that nobody was here and decided to go home. When he reached the door, everyone scared him and threw stuff at him (except the teacher).
Bob was very angry at the class and decided to move away to another town with his parents the next day. He didn’t talk for the rest of the morning and ignored everyone. When the bell rang for lunch, Emma, Caitlyn, and the rest of the class ran to lunch excitedly. Bob simply just trudged to lunch. During lunch, the students surprised Bob with a “Good Riddance” party! They had made a disgusting brown cake that they threw in Bob’s face. Bob started screaming and everyone chased after him, pelting food at him. They chased Bob into the playground where they dug a pit and covered it with sticks. Bob screamed again and ran back to his house.
Luckily, Caitlyn was Bob’s next door neighbor. Caitlyn waited until the end of the school day, rode the bus home, and saw a moving van. Caitlyn asked Bob’s parents where they were moving, and they said California, which was far far away from New York. “Bye Bob!” shouted Caitlyn, smirking. Bob turned red and started making faces at her.
The next day, Mrs. Smith announced that Bob had moved away. Everyone erupted into cheers and started jumping up and down.
