Biden Abruptly Drops Out of the 2024 Presidential Elections

This Sunday morning, President Joe Biden shocked many when he posted a letter on social media stating his withdrawal from the upcoming presidential elections.

Biden solidified his decision while he was with family members and a few select officials. Because the president was still recovering from a recent case of Covid, he refrained from making a public speech. Instead, he resorted to an online statement: “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President; it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Even before the letter was posted online, Biden didn’t seem in a very good state. The last time he was seen publicly, he appeared pale and weak.

With the 2024 presidential elections just around the corner (106 days to be specific!), Biden didn’t leave Harris in a comfortable position; a little more than 3 months might not be enough time for Harris to gain enough support from America. Despite this, according to recent polls and an article in the New York Times, Harris seems to be doing well at the moment, placing slightly ahead of Trump in some surveys.

Biden’s decision was reportedly made only on Saturday. We don’t know much about his sudden change of mind, but hopefully, we’ll hear more from him later this week.
