This July, a giant pink light illuminated clouds scared the residents. However, the light was came from an accidently exposed secret plantation.
A medical cannabis facility on the outskirts of Mildura, Australia produced the lights. Many residents were spooked and thought it was the end of the world, while others looked at it and tried to figure it out logically. It turns out that the phenomena were LED lights reflecting off clouds and giving an eerie glow.
The LED lights were not seen until today because the company making marijuana had big curtains blocking the light from going elsewhere. On Wednesday, the curtains were accidentally left open, thus exposing their location as the lights shone through.
In 2016, Australia legalized the use and cultivation of medicinal marijuana, and it has been widely popularized, with around 70,000 Australians using it for relief. The legalization has brought around 160 million for 2021 alone. This increase was, however, caused by prescriptions that spiked in the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cann Group is the first company licensed by Australia to conduct legal cannabis research. The group had secretly produced commercial marijuana until it was discovered due to this month’s pink light sighting.
