A Choice

Ch. 19

“Definitely!” Beaver said firmly.

“All right then,” the unknown beaver said, “I’ll save you, and we’ll get straight to the park to meet with all the other rebels. Then, we’ll practice some spying codewords with partners. It’s gonna be like this each day until we make our decision.”

“Decision to what?” Beaver asked curiously. He needed everything to be specific and clarified.

“To take down Steve.”

“Who else is in on this?”

“You’ll see.”

But Beaver’s real question was, who are you really? But the beaver began pulling him out, and they were getting closer to the sunlight. Don’t worry. When we get out, I’ll find out.

After hard work of slipping and sliding with pulling and sweating, the two beavers made it out of the chute. But once they got out, the other unknown beaver thrust a piece of paper into Beaver’s hands.

Beaver got one glimpse at him, and the beaver cannonballed like a ninja down the slide that led to the village. All Beaver saw was a blur of a masked figure in a suit. Beaver sighed. Things weren’t going well for him. Beaver hoped the note would cheer him up. But as he opened it, he found a rhyme.

“Get to the green tent in the woods.”

Ch. 20.

What sort of Genius
came up with this Riddle?

“Find the masked beaver in the hood.”

“There are thousands of miles of woods, and who in their right mind would set up a green tent in the middle of the woods? The woods. Everything there is green!” Groaned Beaver, but he set off looking in the woods anyway.

Do you know why? Cuz he was dying to know who the mystery beaver was, even if it killed him. Beaver had always had a curious mind, but usually, he restrained it for the sake of being kind. However, now he couldn’t hold it in. “Who ARE you?!?!” he almost shouted at the paper. Just then, something bright green flashed in the corner of his eye. It was the tent!

“Huh, that didn’t take so long.” he thought.

But in reality, he had been walking for hours, thinking about whether he should trust these hooded figures. His legs were screaming in pain, and his arms felt like they were about to fall off from holding the paper. Beaver was so tired he thought he would collapse. He walked inside the tent and saw a picnic blanket laden with food. He slowly walked and sat down on the side of the blanket. Then he started eating, not eating. He was devouring. He monstrously gobbled down the food, and though it wasn’t as good as Beaverville’s, he still ate it. As he was about to inhale a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, he heard a thump.

“Hello,” said a voice, and as Beaver looked up, he saw the hooded figure.
